Thoughts for a drear Saturday...

It's bizarre...."the procreant urge" as Walt Whitman once beautifully defined the creative process, has less to do with highs and lows than with consistency....never let a day go by without creating SOMETHING...a doodle, a scribble, a humble thumbnail. It'll make up for all those blank pages on your calendar when you were ignored, nay, rejected and rudely snubbed by, the Muse (that haggard, unfaithful wretch) yet once again......

Best Open Source Software; Part One

Celtx is a screenwriter's dream: formatting in seven (!) project templates , script index card function, scene breakdowns, master catalog archiving and cross media integration and much, much more all in an uncluttered and elegant interface. I've been using it for the past six weeks and I've been spurred on to more productivity than with any other program I've ever used for scripting. Final Draft is a decent program, but Celtx is already leaving it in the dust. Did I mention it's open source? The download costs you nothing but the transfer time it takes to land on your hard drive. Version 1.0 has just been released and I encourage anyone who writes for movies, comics, theater or personal A/V projects to check out this amazing gift for creators.

As if that weren't enough, Celtx also boasts a vibrant community of artists in all disciplines of media to share, critique and showcase their craft.

Celtx is the future, and the future is NOW.
